This is the last day of the 21-day lockdown implemented to prevent the spread of corona virus infection. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 10 am, for which the public is very keen. However, after extensive discussions with the states, there was a consensus to extend the lockdown by two weeks.
Meanwhile, there are expectations that the Prime Minister may focus on a plan to start economic activities in a sequential manner. Odisha, Punjab, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Karnataka and Arunachal Pradesh officially announced the extension of the lockdown to 30 April.
According to the Union Health Ministry, 905 new cases of infection were reported within the last 24 hours whereas 51 people died. With this, the total number of infected reached 9,352 and the number of dead increased to 324, and 979 patients were discharged from the hospital after improving health.
India’s total number of positive COVID-19 cases rose to 9,152 following an increase of 796 cases in the last 24 hours, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Monday.
